Bandhavgarh Map
Bandhavgarh is the jewel in Madhya Pradesh’s crown. Situated at a distance
of 195 km from Jabalpur and 225 km from Khajuraho, the Bandhavgarh
National Park is a premier wildlife preserve in the Vindhya mountain
range of Central India. It is a tiny park compared to Kanha but with
nearly the same number of tigers and leopards, or at least that is the
official figure.Bandhavgarh is amongst the last of the former princely
kingdoms of Rajputana before the border between India and Pakistan. The
people of Bandhavgarh believe Lord Krishna prophecied to Arjuna that one
of his descendants would establish a kingdom on Trikuta Hill. The Lord’s
prophecy was fulfilled in 1196 AD when Rawal Jaisal, a Bhatti Rajput who
traced his lineage to Krisnna’s Yadava clan, shifted his capital from
Lodurva (16 km away) to Trikuta Hill.
