Introduction
Siliguri is a rapidly developing metropolis in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is located in the Siliguri Corridor or Chicken's Neck — a very narrow strip of land linking mainland India to its north eastern states. It is also the transit point for air, road and rail traffic to the neighboring countries of Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh.Geographically the location of Siliguri is unique in that by only half an hour's drive one will reach center of dense forest or start climbing the hills. Meandering roads to Kalimpong or Gangtok running parallel to the River Teesta or Rangit with its rapids and falls is one of the finest stretch of landscape in the world. Cluster of hill stations around Siliguri will make any country proud. Once you leave the plains and start climbing you enter a different domain altogether.

How to get there
- Air :-The nearest airport to Siliguri is Bagdogra, 15 kms from Siliguri city centre. It connects to Delhi, Kolkata and Guwahati. Presently Indian Airlines and Jet Airways are operating flights regularly to/from Bagdogra.
- Rail:- New Jalpaiguri is the nearest railway station, just 4 kms from Siliguri. Direct trains from Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbaiu, Chennai and Bangalore are available to New Jalpaiguri.
- Road:- Siliguri is the main city in the plains by the Tenzing Norgay Road (formerly Hill Cart Road).

Shopping
Basically, Silguri sells its wares on two streets - Hillcart Road and Sevoke Road. The former offers more traditional stores and is home to many of the city's hotels, while Sevoke offers more upscale shopping and is the center of the city's banking.
